We're excited about doing an indie craft fair with other crafter's from Dallas. It's going to be in the Bishops Art District which is a cool neighborhood in the Dallas area.

Our good friends the foxymorons are at it again, but this time it's in an entirely different product they are putting out. What's an indie-rock duo suppose to do when writing lyrics can't seem to align?....talk about clothing and start a clothing line from scratch for guys just like them. They already products in 2 well known mens fashion stores on both coast (bi-coastal?) and have press from GQ and valet. Yes, they are at it again and it's all about fashion and style, sounds like the foxymorons alright.

Funky Finds Spring Fling 2009!

boy oh boy what a great time we had at our first handmade craft fair. The turn out was pretty good and people came from neighboring cities and states. Thank you to all who visited our booth.

We made many friends with other handmade crafters and designers. It's an inspiration to talk to others who have the handmade bug too and to share in the same passion. I'll list them out eventually, but here are the pictures from that day. Again thank you if we met you and we hope to see you again soon.

We loved these beautiful, delicious (although I wouldn't recommend eating it) soap by Anne's powder room. My favorite were the ice cream soap bars.

We were blown away by Pink doe, a handmade handbag company in Dallas. Stylish and well priced too!

If you know a baby girl that's a toddler,....you have to get one of these dresses from Three Yellow Starfish for them.

bags, i'm learning that a girl can never have too many of them. we absolutely loved Cahoots Bags. They were incredible ladies with an amazing line of well designed hand bags...of course we traded goods for one. Hey, why not? If you're going to be a gypsy for a day, you might as well barter like one.

Of course our friend Mia's bags were cute as ever and she makes adorable aprons with ruffles too. Check out her items on Etsy by miamaria.

whenever i visit a barnes & noble, i find it hard to resist the magazine section of the store. for some reason i go through a ritual everytime, even though i know exactly which magazine section is of real interest to me. my ritual is walking around each aisle of the magazine racks looking at the travel, business, technology, music and home. of course i find aspects of all of these categories interesting, but when you're on a 1 hour lunch break with time expiring, you're left with little time to pick up all of one's favorite magazines.

today i grabbed a wired and readymade, but just as i was about to sit down, a stand-alone rack of fresh home magazine caught my eye. that was the best 20 min break spent on a nice afternoon. a good magazine should take you away from your current worries, atmosphere (even if the coffee aroma and chatter in the background is pleasantly muted) and help you arrive into the magazines world. keep your eye out for it. i will

we watched our favorite travel channel personality in venice and it has our international travel brains going crazy. the people, the beauty, the history and of course...the food...oh the small seaside food...was heavenly. but with a little infant around, maybe it's just best to share pictures from past italy trips and even some from a friend who takes great pictures.

2009 is going to be a great year!

Happy New Year!
2008 was an exciting year for us at heatherly. we launched our wedding collection, handmade cards and thank you cards earlier in 2008 and we debuted at our first ever National Stationery Show and it was a big success with press inquiries and new customers from the East coast and West coast. while in New York we took a mini-vacation and visited with friends, explored the west village and dined at some unbelievable eateries (including our first magnolia bakery experience). heather has always loved New York City and I'm beginning to see why now.

on a more personal note we welcomed our first baby and he has been keeping us busy! we aren't seasoned veterans at the whole parenting thing but one bit of advice i can give to soon to be parents. when they say get your rest while you can...they ain't lying!

what can i say...i get sentimental at the end of the year and look to the new year with great optimism. we are expanding with new collections and products that we get giddy just talking about them. if you are on our mailing list, you'll hear about them first!

this year we have plenty to look forward to and we will be updating you on all that happens here.

this is always a special time of the year for me. Christmas has always been my favorite holiday of the year. my family tradition around this time revolves around our family business and giving others a chance to have a Merry Christmas. although we always worked hard during those times, i wouldn't change it for a moment, because those were the times that our family bonded the most.
we are looking forward to starting our own family traditions around Christmas. what are some of your favorite Christmas memories? Here's to wishing that you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.

we have welcomed a baby boy into our lives. he was 9 lbs 1.5 oz and 21 inches. what a true blessing it is to have a cute baby...now if only we can get some sleep. Baby Chang is almost here!

Our first baby Chang is about to arrive. Due date is this Friday, the 24th. We shall see what happens. Along with getting cute baby clothes and baby essentials comes the need to "nest". I read about this phenomenon in the baby books and heard about it from other women, but didn't quite know what the reality for me would be until it happened. Let's just say, our house is the cleanest it's ever been in the 3 years that we've lived here, we got a new rug for the living room cause I couldn't stand the sight of the old one, our fridge and pantry have been cleaned out and re-stocked and we have acquired a fancy new camera to take important photos of our new little one whenever he or she gets here.

Autumn is my favorite time of the year

Cardigans, jackets and scarves are some of my favorite wardrobe staples and can best be worn in the fall in Texas or anytime in San Francisco if you're lucky enough to live there. This year I'm especially fond of all the fabulous fall colors seen in the latest issues of the J.Crew catalog and hope to get my hands on a few items from there after the baby comes. This year, the plum purple is a trendsetter in my opinion as well as the poppy reds and burnt orange shades. Other reasons I love fall, besides just fashion, is the brisk cool air, the clean smell of the outdoors, the beautiful sunsets with endless horizon lines and the fact that my potted flowers have never looked so pretty. When you live in Texas, you also appreciate making it through another hot summer (could be a great title for my first movie). It's also the onset of changing leaves, my birthday month, Thanksgiving dinner with family, Starbucks pumpkin spice lattes (yes, I drink coffee towards the end of the year) and the lead in to the beauty of the Christmas season that help make the last months of the year so special. I hope you too can enjoy this lovely time.

it's upon us and it's surely winning me over. the morning dew takes me back to waking up and getting to school by 7 for a little run. there's nothing like stretching and running in autumn early in the mornings. the air is light with just enough breeze to keep you chilly before the run. i think i'm more creative in the autumn/fall months. nature seems to come alive, even though ironically the trees and plants are shedding once green leaves.

after many late nights and creative brilliance at 2 am, we've launched our website. it took the girlie mind of heather and the somewhat geeky mind of jackson to make this possible. and to celebrate,...we're going to bed before 11 pm for once. good night

the twentysomething years

sometime around my mid 20's, my true creativity came around. my friends and i would host themed parties for other twentysomethings, some were girlfriends, others were boys that could be boyfriends. the night would start fairly tame with people making niceties and exchanging laughs, but invariably when the night drew closer to the wee hours, the weak were weeded out from the real party. each night somehow ended up in an impromptu karaoke party of miscued music and missing lyrics with a mic and a stack of cd's,... but we enjoyed it nonetheless.

these parties gave myself and others a sense of joy. i guess those days allowed me to experiment with my creativity. it was really an exercise i think everyone should try one time or another in their life. to put yourself out there and try something that you're not entirely sure about, but there are aspects of it that are second nature. creating an environment for all types of friends to enjoy, having fun with friends, making some great memories that last for a lifetime...simple, care-free fun. those were the days.

a night at the modern

we just got back from a night at the modern art museum of fort worth. there was much wine and hors d'oeuvre for the over crowded fort worth socialites. we really enjoy going to these events because although we love art in all it's forms, it's more interesting to watch the huge array of artists and art enthusiasts that come to modern on opening nights.

this opening night in particular was for a special exhibition called "pretty baby" which had yoshitomo nara as one of the artist featured. nara is the contemporary pop japanese artist that draws cartoonish lines of mainly children that are equally cute as they are devilish. their eyes are sometimes bulging, but they are quite fascinating to look at and to let your imagination go with what stories the art is sharing. some of my favorites are the ones that had a kid playfully looking back at you. he also has several sculptures of dogs walking on stilts and dog sitting in a coffee mug. i like the imagination of the art that pulls from the perspective of a child.
